Married – Kristy and Bart

Now that I am glued to the editing chair working on a backlog of weddings, family, food, newborns, great personal projects and so much more, I thought I would take a little breather to write a blog post about an amazing couple that I meet earlier this year.

Kristy and Bart were just a perfect love story! The type that you read about in a book or watch in a movie. SO without going into too much details I will tell you this. Kristy and Bart developed a long distance courtship over time before becoming engaged, she was from the city and he was from the country, in some peoples mind you would think chalk and cheese but not these two!!! They were a matching set!!! And a stunning set at that…

In the months leading up to Kristy and Bart’s wedding I was able to catch up with them several time to discuss the days details and each time I just adored the pair more and more!

A sweet church service followed by a home reception at Kristy’s parents house, a more than perfect way to spend the day. The reception room was filled with love, smiles and nothing but admiration for the pair and the commitment they had demonstrated for each other at the church ceremony earlier that day.

Thank you Kristy and bart for choosing me to be part of your amazing wedding day! I had such a wonderful time with the two of you!

Kirra arrives to keep Vinton Company

So not too long ago, baby Kirra arrived to keep her big brother Vinton company. Ida and Johan could not be happier with the new little female edition to their family! Every little bit of perfection that the three of them could have imagined!

Great timing for me on the day as while I was preparing to photograph Kirra for her new Born Shoot, Vinton was impressing me with his mad skills on how to make the ever impressive Baby Chino!

With the help of Dady Johan, VInton showed me exactly what level of skill was required to make this fancy frothy chochy drink! NUM NUM NUM NUM!!! I was so impressed!

While Vinton devoured his tasty beverage, I got back to work, well really play, and took some photographs of his adorable little sister while she slept!

This little lady was just the highlight of my week! So beautiful and perfect!

And up close she is even more precious than I could have imagined!

Thank you Ida, Johan and Vinton for sharing your day with myself so I could meet little Kirra!

Ida’s Maternity {Baby #2}

It has been a while since I have blogged and I just wanted to share an image from a few months ago from a shoot that I completed with Ida.

This is the 4th time I have had the pleasure of photographing Ida, her wedding, her first maternity, her first born and now her second maternity shoot. She is always such an amazing person to photograph. Each time I get an opportunity to photograph Ida I learn so much more about how amazing she and her family are and I feel even more privileged to have been able to be part of her growing family.

So my intention is over the next few weeks to share some images from Ida’s family shoots as she has now welcomed her second child into her beautiful family. And it is not long until we catch up again to photograph the whole clan, but until then I will share this image and later in another post, a couple from the newborn shoot of her second child, a little girl. Such a precious little angel she is too!

it has been a while – Tristram and Codey

ok, so it has been quite a while since I last contributed to my Blog, and this is for no other reason than becoming amazingly busy with an influx of photo jobs… brilliant reason for me not to be on here.

But right now I have a spare five minutes between edits and drop off’s and planning my next wedding so I thought I would share an image from my personal file to keep you all wanting more… well that is what I am hoping anyway :)

Recently I got the opportunity to watch good friend Codey Lee, get a hair cut in a very cool very stylish salon named Tristram. Codey is a school teacher by day and at night he morphs into a fantastic photographer, so needless to say we happen to share a few common interests ;)

While watching Codey get his hair cut I just could not help myself, I had to pull the camera out of my handbag as this salon was just beautiful, defiantly has that something special about it!

So guys and gals, if you are looking for that somewhere for that little bit of extra personal style head on down to TRISTRAM, it is defiantly one of Brisbane’s greatest salons!

Stay tuned and I have quite a few weddings to share with you all in the next week or so :)

Someone that is inspiring {GIRLS ROCK}

As well as being a full time Wedding Photographer in Brisbane I also hang out in a cool gym a couple of days a week as the receptionist.

This is my chance to mingle with people as at home in the office can be a bit lonesome at times and human interaction keeps the world moving right! Well working at the gym you meet all walks from life, and I am fortunate enough to work with a few special individuals that not only encourage and support my goals but also provide that little bit of incentive for me to aspire to be a better version of myself, and Amy is defiantly one of these people! Spending more and more time with Amy has made me want to be fitter and healthier than I am now, although I am not going to adopt her work out regime I am defiantly going to invest in myself  to create something better as she does with herself. Listening to Amy talk about her training and just watching how excited and involved she is with her lifestyle is really something! I am so much more than impressed by her dedication!

Now when doing this shoot it was just a light test, I had just purchased some new studio lights and wanted to see if the light modifiers were suitable for a future shoot with Amy that we had planned, and I was blown away by Amy’s physic when I got to see her little body in the flesh. I am a little person and in my mind I thought Amy was little like me but just with out the few extra layers of padding that I have, alright, I have quite a bit of extra padding. But Amy is insanely strong! As you will see.

Amy also trains others at the Biologic labs and you can find out more by visiting her Facebook page, but for now let me share a few test images I took a couple of weeks ago and you too can be amazed like I am!

Stay Tuned as Amy and I will be getting together again soon for a shoot that will be brilliant!

Just AMAZING!

Beautiful Flowers from a Beautiful Lady

Now I am in major Wedding mode as this weekend I have a wedding that I am extremely excited about shooting!

SO every moment of my day today has been occupied and filled with potential imagery for Saturdays big day! Antiques, soft colourings, natural textures, and even rosy smells.

And to make it even more exciting yesterday when having a coffee catch up I was given the most amazing bunch of flowers, or some might say vegetables, from  my sweet friend Coby from The Lemony Cupcake and I am inspired! As soon as I saw the flowers the images floated in my brain and that was the end of me.

Fortunately for my Dog Benny who was waiting for me at home, it was too dark to for-fill any of these thoughts. SO this morning when the sun in my lounge room was just right I grab a few of my favourite furnishings, well my favourite to be honest. A chair my darling Dad had made for me and my favourite Green Shoes and went to town shooting some ideas. I was intent on creating light within the images to show the gorgeous colours and textures, something I am going to be diligent about recreating for some images on Saturday!!!

The insanely talented Damien

Every now and then you come across some one who is just naturally gifted! Damien is one of those guys!

He works wood and turns them into most AMAZING pieces of art! Just incredibly stunning bowls and sculptural pieces like nothing you have ever seen.

A little while back I asked Damien to work on a piece of wood my Dad had given me for my birthday. Don’t get me wrong, Dad had worked his special magic on the slab that was to be a chopping board but I knew it had more potential and as soon as Damien saw the slab so did he!

A few weeks ago when I saw what Damien had made of the slab of wood I nearly fell over, it is just BEAUTIFUL!!!

Now I have photographed quite a few of Damien’s works but by far this is my favourite for so many reasons! Not only was it given to me by the most incredible man in my life (my Dad) but it was worked on by the two most talented men I know (Damien and my Dad)!!!

Thank you SO much Damien, your talent and MAD MAD skill just amazes me more and more every time I see your work!

I’m still here…

Things in the editing chair have been a little crazy of late! Sadly a few personal distractions took over for a while and the creative energy was at a low point… So to counteract this, for the last month I have been locking the door on the office and editing like  a possessed lady to complete a few jobs… and mission partially complete, I am more than half way through my back log ;) yippeeeee…

So today in preparation for a huge week of getting the remaining jobs out and into the lovely hands of my beautiful clients, I decided to head out and just do some ground work for a wedding I am shooting in a couple of weeks :)

Here is a sneaky peek at the location for my bridal portion of the images ;) I nearly hugged the man behind the Paddington Antique Centre counter when he said I could take my Bride and Groom in there for my bridal shots!

OH BOY! This is going to be a fun day to be had in a few weeks!!!

Young love in New Farm

So last sunday I was lucky enough to hang out with one cute couple! Natasha and Ryan… Not only do I get to photograph wedding in Brisbane but also I often get the chance to capture couples! Another reason I LOVE my job!

Its always a fun way for me to end the weekend getting to know a young spunky couple that are in love! So I headed down to one of my favourite locations, New Farm, and started work with their couples shoot. I had a million crazy ideas in my mind on what to do with our time together but in the end I was just content to hang with them and catch moments where the two of them were just happy to be with each other. That is the great thing about a matching set of people, they are just happy to sit comfortably in each others company.

Natasha was joking with me about how Ryan had guessed all the gear I had bought with me in my camera pack, he is a camera buff so he was not too far from wrong with his guessing. And Ryan, well he did not know too much about Natasha’s plans to have the couples shoot until a couple of weeks before hand.. too cute ;) Natasha is just  the sweetest young lady I have meet in a long time, and a few weeks before their shoot I caught up with Natasha for coffee and it was just so relaxing to sit with her. I really like her style and class :)

So here are a few shots from our time together, thank you once again Natasha and Ryan for spending time with me in new Farm, I had a Blast!
